: Hi! I had my little girl, Courtney, on Monday, July 24. Today is August 2. I am going through post-partum depression and it is driving me nuts. I cry instantly, most of the time for no reason. How long does this depression normally last? I am so happy to have Courtney and my 3 1/2 year old daughter, Kailey, but I feel so overwhelmed. I am afraid of making my oldest daughter feel lonely. I am so confused about going back to work or staying home. I have this terrible fear that something bad will happen to one of them or my husband. I am a total mess. Is this normal and how long before it ends? It has been about 6 days since I started this. Please help! I need some encouraging words.
Post partum is so normal. We all get a touch of it but some get it worse than others. Please know that how you feel is normal but you should talk to your doctor if it is prolonged. It has only been two weeks since you went through a life changing birth. Two children is much more work than one and the lack of sleep is probally getting to you also. Call someone to come help. Maybe a friend could take your 3 yr old for a few hours so you can rest. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
