Confusing Pregnancy results

My situation is very complicated and the doctors don't seem to know what's going on. I thought maybe I
could get some advice. My LMP was May 29 and on July 9 I had a positive hpt. Later that week I started
bleeding. The doctor said I was having a miscarriage because my HCG level was 23. The next week I had
another HCG test which was 28, and another test on July 31 which was 202. wow it went up. I was
scheduled for a sonogram and did another blood test 4 days later which was 390. The sonogram showed
nothing and the doctor said it probably wouldn't until the levels were around 2000. So they did another
HCG level the day of the sono (August 9) and the level dropped to 270 and progesterone was 10.5.
So now they have started me on Crinone 8% )progesterone) to help the levels rise.
My concerns are am I really still pregnant or is this just left over from the supposed miscarriage?
The Doctor doesn't realy know whats going on they said its either too early to tell or it could be
ectopic. Has anyone ever heard or experienced anything similar? Please help?
