: : On May 15th Eileen posted a message asking for opinions about taking Celexa while being pregnant. She said her doctor related a list of possible birth defects caused by Celexa.

: : I am trying to become pregnant; my doctor said Celexa is safe to keep taking. He said he has had at least 40 women on Celexa deliver healthy babies.

: : Eileen, if you read this, please write and let us know what those possible birth defects are your doctor told you about. Also, let us know if you decided to keep taking the drug or not, and how you made your decision.
: : Thanks!

: Eileen, I am currently trying to become pregnant. I also have recently started taking Celexa. Please does anyone know anything? Are there other drugs for anxiety and depression that are OKAY during pregnancy?

Hello, I have the same concerns as everyone above and found some information at the following site: http://my.webmd.com/content/asset/uspdi.203653. Basically, it says that in animals, high dosages of celexa caused decreased survival rates and slow growth
in offspring. It also cautions against using celexa while breastfeeding as it passes into the milk and can cause drowsiness in the infant and therefore less milk intake and weight loss. I would still like to know what Eileen's doctor showed/told her. Please share
as this is preying on all of our minds! Thank you!
