When I first thought I might be pregnant two months ago I took a home pregnancy test and the results were negative. Of course, me being the chronic worrier that I am, I went to a clinic and got a urine test there (if I am pregnant, then I would have been 6 weeks pregnant when I went into the doctor, this was after my first light period, just in case that helps). My results were again negative. But, I'm worried because my period a month ago, and the one I just had, were both very, very, VERY light. I only used 2-3 tampons both times, and the color was different than normal.
I called a doctor, and she said that some women, although it is extremely rare, do not produce the hormone that the urine tests are supposed to find. Like I said, she said it doesn't happen very often, and that my period irregularities are likely due to stress or other factors.
I have lost a lot of weight lately, so my eating habits changed greatly, and I just started college and quit my job, all happening around the time I had these two irregular periods.
I guess my question to you all is...could this all just be a coincidence? Could my worries about being pregnant stress me out to the point that my periods were irregular? Or, is it more possible that I am one of the women who don't produce the hormone? Also, is 6 weeks too early for urine tests to detect the hormone?
I know your replies will all be guesses, and I need to see a doctor to determine if I really am pregnant or not, but I really need to talk to people who are knowledgable and understand what is happening.
