: Hi all,

: My g/f insists on taking the pill.
: She is vegetarian and usually very fragile when it comes to health.

: She asked for my opinion.

: Does taking a pill (the kind that you have to take everyday of your life like a treatment, regardless of whether she's gonna have sex or not..) affect your health or fertility at the long term?
: The doctor even gave her beeper that beeps once a day to remind her (??? are all pills like that??)

: So what do youthink?
: Thank you for any comment you might have.

I'm taking it that she is taking the pill for reasons other than for birth control, such as regulating her period or controlling cramps. Most people would say that this is perfectly normal but some people don't like to take the pill for various reasons. First of all, it can cause more mood swings or just an "I don't feel like the same person" type of effect. If it is used for birth control, it can sometimes be more of an abortificant than stopping ovulation. My advice would be for her to do what feels right for her. If she feels better when she's taking it and it clears up any problems she has, then it's a good choice for her. As far as the beeping, that is a relatively new feature since the low dose pills need to be taken at the same time every day. Hope this answers your questions. You might have gotten faster response if you had posted on the Women's Heath board instead.
