When I first found out I was PG I also was worried about an ectopic. I had abdominal tenderness and it felt like my left ovary was throbbing. I was SO worried about ectopic since a friend had a terrible experience several years back.
I have since found out that this is a very common concern among newly PG women and that ectopic would probably not be causing pain that early in a pregnancy. Usually an ectopic is diagnosed based on abnormally low HcG levels before any pain at all is felt.
Your pain could be stretching of uterine ligaments normal during early pregnancy, or the burst follicle (Corpus Leuteum?) in your ovary emitting hormones to support the pregnancy.
Anyway, the best thing to do is to discuss your concerns with a doctor, but chances are that you are just fine.
