: : Ok a little history on me. I am 29 and when I was 16 I had toxic shock syndrome. Also endometrosis runs in my family(everyone in my family has had emergency hystorectomy by the age of 30). I have been having unprotected sex for a year now or over and have not conceived. I was also on birth control from the age of 16 until about 3 years ago. I was wondering if anyone thinks that I can get pregnant and if so what do you suggest? What is the best way to conceive? I have very irregular periods.

: Kim - Yes, I think you could concieve however, the first step you should take is to consult your Doctor. When my husband and I decided to start a family over 3 yrs ago, that is exactly what I did!
: Also, I have been blessed with any excellent dr to make my "ups and down's" more tolerable. You see, I had pre-cervical cancer and had to have portions of my cervix removed. I was only 21!
: This caused my problem. In combo with that, I wasn't ovulating correctly each month. After many, many tests, my Dr. put me on
: clomid for about 4 months. I had to go off of it b/c it is not meant to take forever. I still wasn't pregnant. After 3yrs, my Dr had done everything he could do in his office and suggested I try in-vitro.
: We were sad but, willing to do whatever it took to have a family. Well, long story very short, I went back to my regular dr and found out I was pregnant! I am now 20 weeks.
: If you want to know all of the tests I took (and my husband) pls let me know. I had no clue what to expect either.
: So, don't get discouraged just yet. Get yourself to a good doctor and if you are at all uncomfortable with your current dr's evaluation - GET A SECOND OPINION!

: Best regards, Alice

Thanks Alice. I appreciate your input. The current doctor I have I actually don't like one bit. He basically and all the other doctors that I have seen have told me to go ahead and have a hystorectomy and that is not what I want. To make it worse I was on birth control since I had toxic shock and my left ovary does not work. I had a laporoscopy done and they didn't go deep enough in the biopsy's to tell anything, but the fact that it doesn't work. I am scared and need to find a good doctor. My husband and I haven't really said yes to a family, but we talked about it last weekend and he said that he didn't think that I would get pregnant only because I haven't yet. If you want to talk more in detail, just e-mail me I would appreciate anything that you could suggest.
Thanks again
