: I was 6 weeks pregnant and had cramping for three days. I was worried about either a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy. My OB referred me for blood tests and it was determined that my progesterone level was 10 and normal is 20. He said this might have been the reason for the cramping. I was put on 50 mg of progesterone vaginal suppositories and the cramping has stopped. I have to have my blood checked weekly to see if the progesterone level is increasing. I also had an ultrasound which confirmed that the baby was ok and there was NOT an ectopic pregnancy.
: Hope this helps.
I have been reading everything I can find on pogesterone. I have had three miscarriages in the last eighteen months. I am now six weeks pregnant. My doctor has put me on 100mg Prometrium (progesterone) twice a day. I haven't been checked for low progesterone but she said it would be a good idea to begin taking the progesterone. I have been doing so for one week now. I have read conflicting reports of possible harm to the developing baby. I keep thinking though why would the doctor say take it if it could do any harm. I've also noticed that in reading all of these related postings I seem to be on a higher dose. If anyone reading this has any thoughts on this please respond, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks:)
