: : : I have had granuloma annulare on my left for 4 yrs. I have tried several different creams, etc., but nothing works. In the summer the bumps are much more raised and the borders appears larger. In the last year I have also noticed a few bumps on my left hand. I understand the embarassment, especially in summer when you want to wear slinkier shoes, etc. I do not know the cause, but I know that I suffered a trama and was living in the heat Australia when I first noticed the development. Does anyone else have any ideas on a cause?
: : I am firm in my belief that this is an autoimmune disorder- often accompaning another a.i. disorder (ie, diabetes, a.i.thyroid disease). My GA appeared shortly after brain surgery- Hashimoto's thyroid appeared at the same time. Conventional medicine doesn't have any treatment to correct the situation. My nervous system is pretty tightly wound and I believe this is a contributing factor in the spread of the disorder. Haven't committed to homeopathy yet but am getting closer to that point. Recently tried a new dermatologist who was the first to biopsy- apparently there is another disorder that mimics GA- would be good to check out if you haven't been biopsied.

: No, I have not been biopsied. In fact, I was diagnosed by a dermatolosist in about 5 minutes. Do you know the name of this disorder that mimics GA? I would be most interested in any new links, info., etc. Thanks for the reply.

I don't have the name of the alternate disorder- the dermatologist was reluctant to name it before the results of the biopsy and then left a message on my answering machine saying that my disorder was indeed GA. He also said that this was good news. Your disorder probably is GA, but maybe you should see a dermatologist to ask about a biopsy.
