My mother also has polycythemia, we aren't Jewish and she is most definitely not a man. I'm unsure about the heredity of the disease, but I wanted to point out that unfortunately it affects other people as well. I'm also wondering if it is hereditary. :) Carlie : My father in law was just diagnosed w/ polycythemia. I know that this is a disease affects Jewish men and he is currently having blood drawn weekly. Does anyone know if this is a hereditary trait? Just wondering about my husband and son... : Cathy
