Hi. I'm a 39 y.o. woman with a strange history of when pregnant (twice now, about 16 and 14 yrs. ago), I developed an extremely rare disorder. I was told then that my body did not produce enough cortisone (Addisons Disease?--but that's not what they called it. I don't recall the terminology, however). I was put into the hospital with a severe rash, accompanied with insomnia (due to the itching), and put on IV steroids. Then, for remainder of pregnancy (both pregnancies), I took Prednisone. After the delivery, I was supposedly fine. However, years later, I've suffered w/extremely dry skin (itchy), edema, sensitive to cold/heat, irritable, abd. pain and discomfort, ovarian cysts, constipation, and my hands ache (possibly related to carpal tunnel, though, it is yet to be ruled out). A shopping list of symptoms that doesn't seem to make sense. Does anyone know of a name for this pregnancy type disorder? I've been trying to get ahold of my old records (I've moved out of state). Meanwhile, my family doc is sending me to an endocrinologist to rule out Addisons Disease. Thanks for any input.
