: i have been experiencing these sensations for about 2 months now.i have been taken ativan[anxiety med]since april.had not been drinking until i went on vacation begin. of aug.i did drink while on vacation and while on med.no problems on vacation.4 days later started with these burning sensations.i had a cat scan, mri, went to a neurologist and had blood work done.everything has come back neg.also my hearing has become very sensitive.i also went to ear doc.my psych.tells me this is anxiety.we tried increasing my med.and has no impact at all for releiving the burning.i realize anxiety can cause anything but in 13 yrs.of dealing with anxiety i've never exper.this.it comes and goes, whenever it wants.it can be very painful and very annoying.has anyone ever experienced this?do i put my trust in my doctor?is there anything else that might cause this?its easy for my doc to label it anxiety because i have a history but this is very hard for me to accept.if anyone has any info.which would be of importance or advice i'd really appreciate any.thanks so much-bill
I have dealt with this on a constant basis for two years now and while mine is due, in part, to my condition, it can be caused my a number of things.
Most commonly with this, doctors check for Perpherial Neuropathy - simple test done by a Neurologist. Anxiety WILL make mine worse! It could be a reaction to cold, stress, or be the basis of an under laying disorder.
Don't let it go. Get to a good doctor and one that you have faith in. The only med's that I have found to help alot are Elavil and Neurontin but with both, you need to start out slow and build up.
