I just had my spleen taken out 5 days ago. So far I have had no change in any of my blood counts. I felt at this point i had really no choice. I have done a lot of research on TTP and having a spleenectomy seems to help most people. I have found some really good sites on TTP. E-mail me and I can send you the URL's. I hope all goes well for you mother in-law. This is a horrible amd scary thing to have. i personaly feel that the spleenectomy is definately worth the try. If nothing else it will put her into remission this bout. firstname.lastname@example.org
: I would love any information on a splenectomy for the treatment of TTP.
: My mother-in-law is currently being treated for her fourth recurrance of TTP. In the past, plasma
: apherisis has typically worked to increase her platelet counts. This time, however, they just won't
: move -- even after 18 treatments. Looks like she will be scheduled for a splenectomy in the next
: week. Any thoughts?
