Ann Marie: I was dianosed in 1977 following a CBC for elective surgery. My worst months are usually summer. The sun makes my skin itch as does hot showers or baths. So far my treatment has been periodic phebotemies - up to 4 per year. A bone marrow biopsy last year shows signs of end stage polycythemia but so far no luekemia. My diagnosis also says "myelofibrosis". Headaches, tiredness are common. My spleen & liver are enlarged. Hope this has been helpful
