A year and a half ago I woke up with headache, mild nausea and a low grade fever. Later in the day my tongue became coated (white) especially toward the back. I saw a doctor who thought perhaps it was a yeast infection and prescibed "Miracle Mouth Wash". This did absolutely no good. Three days later my husband had the same thing and two days later so did our son. I saw another doc who prescribed Nizoral. Nothing happened except for the fact that my tongue became very sore. Since this persisted, I saw my Internal Med. Doc. She drew blood and confirmed an elevated white blood cell level and prescribed Augmentin. This seemed to help for about two weeks. The condition got better, but not all the way "cured". Next she doubled my dose of Augmentin for 14 days. During this treatment it got "better" but then came back while I was on the medication. The doc then pawned it off as a normal coating of the tongue from smoking. This is simply not true. Since then, about every six weeks, my husband and I get repeats. Headache, nausea, exhaustion, some tissue swelling in the face, etc., low grade fever and sinus-like symptoms. You can actually smell a "furry" infected odor in your nose and throat. We now wake up with a low body temp. of around 97 degrees. Can't seem to shake all this after a year and a half. Anyone else heard of this or has had this? Any clue? Please help!
