: I have RSD in my foot and have had the normal course of treatment. My orthopedic surgeon wanted to check on nerve entrapments in my peroneal, sural and tibial nerves. He injected them with novacaine and for a few hours I felt great. He is suggesting that he remove these nerves from my foot.
: Has anyone had any experiences along these lines? I don't know anything about removing nerves. Any info out there?
I have had a similar comment by a physician. From the boards and all the chat rooms and other physicians here in AZ - removal is a contraindication for RSD. This can even cause more pain and rapid spreading. Have you looked up the rsdinfo.com web site? This is one of the leading Drs. for RSD in the USA. He has done alot of research and teaches continuing education in RSD to others. The puzzels offered on this site are very interesting and you can get a lot from them. Research and ask lots of questions. Removal is a very serious step in RSD.
My pain started in my right foot. Now I am in stage three and have pain in my entire right side and now starting in the left lower leg. My health has been effected and I am very interested in any help to stop this pain or at least manage it. Good luck and I hope this helps.
