: : Hi, My name is Maria...I'm 34 yrs old and have had RSD since 1998..I had (2) L4-L5 Surgeries in 1998 as a result of an accident.I developed Cauda Equina Syndrome. I also have Fibromyalgia and Degenerative Disc Disease...Anyway, now that you know what im up against...I am in the process of going for a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I am not surprised to see how many people are posting messages on this board..Im just looking for someone to tell me how this procedure helped them...if it did...I did all the research on the SCS and (have watched the video my Dr. gave me)about 3 times already...I need help with all this pain I am having..It also helps me to talk to people who have experience in this subject...Thank You to all who may respond to me. I appreciate any information on any subject that i have mentioned here...Best Wishes, Maria

: Hello Maria,

: I have a SCS implanted and I am considering having it removed. It did help me a lot for a few years, but then I think it might have shifted and I am not getting the "spread" off of the stimulator that I need to distract the pain.
: I will give it one more shot and try to have the Technician help me program the device.
: It was good to read from Tiff who offered an opinion suggesting anyone with RSD to not get a sympathectomy. I agree with her, if you have RSD it is better to deal with it. With all of the drugs that are available such as Neurontin, some relief can be achieved.
: I find that every night...when the sun goes down, there is a barometric pressure that bothers me the most. Dampness, rain...bad stuff.
: I use a dehumidifier when i need to in certain rooms. Anyway, good luck to you, I hope you find comfort. Marty

Marty,
Have you considered having your SCS repositioned rather than removed. Either way they do the same surgery and if it can still provide relief for you it would be worth a try. Lee Ann
