Lindsey: You don't have what I have, and what I have is restless leg syndrome. However, that doesn't mean that your pain is not some variation of the restless leg syndrome. Did I confuse you? At any rate, I am afflicted by periodic (about once everyt 20 - 30 seconds) impulses to move my legs. These impulses are very unpleasant...sort of like electrical impulses crawling beneath the skin. No one can sleep with these impulses going on, no matter how tired or exhausted you may be. It is most frustrating, and if it proceeds without treatment (drug therapy) it will make a person mentally ill because of the frustration and extreme fatigue. Initially these impulses afflicted me only when I was asleep, and the resultant kicking kept them at bay, though it made life miserable for my wife. Now, 3 years later the disease has progressed to the point where the motion impulses are also evident during the day, if I don't have enough medicine in me. What is the medicine? Well, I take Requip, which is a L=dopa agonist, whatever that means. It has side effects (headache, chills, extreme tired feeling) But these are trivial compared to the misery I'd be in if I couldn't sleep. Does that explain anything? Get thee to thy neurologist. Yours, Don
