I have had RLS for 10 yr's and have had recent success with Neurontin. I require a highdose (5 grams) which I take in the evening so tta it has maximum effect at the time I need to sleep. It is an anti-eliptic drug but it has minimal side effects and no "hang over" the next morning. I've tried many different drugs in the past (tegretol, amytriptolene) and even acupuncture with no relief. My RLS is related to nerve comression in the neck. When I mow the lawn or am physically active I notice the symptoms to be more sever. I may even wake up after 20 minutes of sleep because of the sensation in my leg but after another dose of neurontin, I fall easily back to sleep. Neurontin saved me. I spent years of sleepness nights with no answers from the GP's until I found a neurologist with the answer, at lesat for me.
