12 years ago when we married, I was sorry to learn that my husband has restless legs syndrome--I slept with a sister who had it all my young life and was not looking forward to this. The temporary cure is almost funny.
My husband has never been bothered himself by it, but when his legs are going like a windmill and I'm looking at another 3 or four hours of no sleep before he stops, I finally decided to just ask him if he couldn't try to stop. He never remembers me saying anything, but he always stops. Now, all I have to say is "Honey, you're jerking." Sometimes, he'll say "No I'm not, I'm not even asleep yet." But he is, and he always stops. It's all subliminal I guess--because it always works.
