: Has anyone tried reflexology for their RLS symptoms? My 2yr old has their terrible illness and he cannot rest day & night! We are willing to try anything! Any suggestions and has anyone tried this type of alternative treatments? THanks, Jami
Hello Jami,
I have been practicing reflexology in NYC for the past three years on a casual basis and also suffer from RLS.
My story is;
Ever since childhood I would have to rub my feet together hard enough and for long enough so that the tanic acid would build up (that cramping feeling from over exersion) and then stop and get relieve. As I got older into my teens and young adulthood I took a more--well--you know how youg men can get?!
ANYway. I developed alot of nerosis around what I thought were my own fetishes and didn't realize until well into adulthood that there was RLS.To answer your concern;
First how do you know that your 2(?) yr old has RLS. Have you ruled out all other possibilities? ie. some sort of alergy or fibralmyalgia, etc.Working on myself reflexologically has been helpful in managing the syndrome but not perfect. I also just started with a client with mild RLS and we'll see how it goes. I will post here if I see results.
If you would like to experiment on your own the area's most likely to treat are the big toe and the small toes next. One reasoning here is that RSL is possibly a neurlogic/brain disorder and the toes represent the reflex points for the head.
Please pickup a book on reflexology, there are lots of good ones, and practice on yourself first to get the feel of the thumb walking technique. ;-)namaste
