: : I have been taking Sinemet for almost a month now for RLS. My primary doctor did not want to prescribe anything for this condition - said it could cause more problems than help. He subsquently referred me tp a me to a neurologist for another matter and I brought it up in conversation. The neurologist did not hesitate to write me a prescription for Sinemet. My problem is that I used to have this condition off and on, now and then. Now, if I don't take the Sinemet when I go to bed, my legs start in. I'm not sure if this is all in my head or if anyone else has experienced the same problem. Other than that, I have no problem with the Sinemet.

: Reply: Diane - I know what you mean when you say is it in your head. What type drug is Sinemet? Did the neurologist run tests for your legs? Have you been to an orthopedic doctor? I'm on Desyrl, which helps me sleep, but now if I don't take it, I can't sleep. And, my legs still jerk according to my husband, sometimes all night long.
Reply: Vicki-I use to take Sinment also. It can have what is called "a rebound effect". Meaning if you don't take it your symptons get worse. Then you need to take more.I had to stop taking it because of that. It usually take about 3 months. I now take Requip. Works similar but no rebound effect. I only take it at night. During the day I take Lortab. 1/2 3 times a day. That really works for me. Keep trying to find something that works for you.It took me 3 years to finally find something that worked for me. I tried at least 10 different things and two different doctors. I sufffer all day and night with some relief with the above meds.Good Luck
