: : I am 47 y.o. male who has suffered with RLS most of my adult life. I have tried various treatments and medications to no avail. Sometimes it is so intense, it seems the only way to make it stop would be to cut my legs off( yes, rather drastic.) It feels like a cheese grater is scraping over all my nerves. Although it is most common in the calves, I also suffer it in my thighs, and occassionally in my arms. : : It used to be if I could get to sleep it would subside, but now it wakes me, or keeps me from going to sleep altogether. : : If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE let me know. I am actually rather desperate, as I am having horrible time right now. I would prefer suggestions on a non-chemical approach. : : So, if you can possibly help, again, PLEASE let me know. : Have you tried drinking tonic water? Medication alone doesn't do it for me either - but combining Senement (sp?) with a couple of glasses of tonic water (with a squeeze of lime) seems to do the trick. I am on a medication called pramipexole which seems better this sinemet. The tonic water idea is interesting.
