A new brief but comprehensive report, “Restless Legs Syndrome: Detection and Management in Primary Care”, is available from the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (National Institutes of Health) at:

http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/prof/sleep/rls_gde.htm

This report, designed for primary care providers, summarizes the current science base on the prevalence, causes, and consequences of RLS. It offers practical assessment and diagnosis information as well as a range of treatment options. The report includes sample questions a provider can use to help identify RLS.

The RLS report is the latest in a series of clinical reports and factsheets from the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research (NCSDR) that can help you provide reliable, science-based information on sleep disorders such as insomnia, sleep apnea, and problem sleepiness.

See:
http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/prof/sleep/index.htm for more health professional-oriented publications and
http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/sleep/index.htm for more patient and public-oriented publications

This information is in the public domain, and does not require permission for use in online and off-line publications. We appreciate your citing the NCSDR of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) as a source.
