: I have been with my husband for 15 years and all of the sudden I have the symptons of genital warts. We both have been faithful. The only thing I can think of is that my sister-in-law wore my swimming suit and then I wore it later. I came down with these symptoms about a month or so later and I just found out that she has genital warts! I am freaking out! Is it possible to get this from a swimming suit?
There is no way that you can contract this disease from a swim suit. This virus cannot live outside the body as it requires live cells to survive. It is strickly linked to sexual contact. You may want to ask your husband again if he has been faithful. I contracted the condition last year after 16 years of marriage. The lesion was far into my cervix and I had had sex only with my husband. He denies ever being with another person but this condition does not appear on its own. I was told it could've been dormant for 20 years but that is highly unlikely. I came to the difficult conclusion that my husband was not telling me the truth and I have since separated from him. I now must be checked every 3 months to make sure the lesions do not turn cancerous as HPV is the leading cause of cervical cancer. My suggestion? Do not have sex with your husband until you find out more because this virus can rupture upon penitration and spread further. Protect yourself and get checked every three months by your doctor.
