Women go temporarily hypothyroid after childbirth while the thyroid rebalances the hormones. This makes the hair loss and post-partum depression.
It si common and usually corrects itself. The hair shoyuld grow back. At times the thyroid doesn't rebalance itself.
If you are concerned ask your doctor to test your thyroid level.
But be aware they often get the diagnosis wrong, as lab tests do not explain how much thyroid YOU need. Check out about.com/thyroid for other info.
