Why am I getting pimples (Blackheads and Whiteheads) on my upper lip

I find that i get pimples on my upper lip and i don't know why. I also get them on other parts of my face. But i find it odd that the tend to show up on my upper lip. I don't have herpes or any STD that would cause this to happen. How do i get rid of them and how do i prevent them from popping up??.. I've tried holding off on the lip liner and lipstick but it just isn't working....HELP!!!!
