: what causes yellow nails? is it a vitamin deficiency, iron deficiency or something else?
I found this explannation for "yellow nail syndrome" at adam.com. If your nails are exibiting this syndrome, I would advise seeing a dermatologist for a proper diagnosis. However, if you have been wearing dark pigmented nail polish without using a base coat, then the nails may simply be stained.
Yellow nail syndrome is characterized by yellow nails that lack a cuticle, grow slowly, and are loose or detached (onycholysis). Yellow nail syndrome is most commonly associated with lung disorders, and with lymphedema.
