: Hi I have dry skin and hair. Well, I started seeing a change when my skin began to take on this dry look. So I began to wonder whether it was something I was using because I had a very bad dandruff problem at that time. I had went to the dermatologist about my dandruff and she prescribed some tar shampoo. She told me to shampoo with it seven days a week but to decrease it by one day every week until I'm down to using it once a week. So I did that and I noticed that my skin started drying out and so too my hair. My hair became thick and coarse and my skin became rough, cracked and dry looking. So I began to worry. I went to several dermatologist and they didn't to seem to see anything wrong with my skin and hair. They told me that I was just getting older and that my skin and hair was going to take on that effect. My dermatologist told me that my body is probably secreting less oil now and that this the cause for that effect. I don't believe these dermatologists because I still have a terrible problem with dandruff and I don't think that has to be a problem no matter what age a person is. Can you help me out.

I too have dry skin, and started using baby oil. Now I dont use it on dry skin but I use it right when I turn the shower off, I rub it all over real good then dry off, and usually after that rub lotion on.
Another trick is to rub light vasoline on the very dry spots like knees and elbows and leave it on all night (good for feet to !) after a couple of days those areas will be baby soft, trust me I tried !!!
As for your hair, they sell stuff called IC at any Arbors, CVS, Rite Aid, whatever drug store is near. Its in a little package by all the shampoo bottles, theres also others that are DEEP CONDITIONERS...........now get some and wash your hair and put it on and then get a bag or hair cap and put it on and make sure all the air is out. This will keep moisture in and keep it from drying out the conditioner, leave on for an hour and rinse, your hair will feel so good. Now do this at least once a week and you will see a difference soon.
I hope this helps !!
