: : My 14 year old daughter has a very obsessive behavior of picking and breaking off her hair. Has anyone ever heard of this and how can we help her, she is breaking off her hair so that it is only 1 1/2 inches long on top, she cannot stop. It is also hurting her in school because all she can concentrate on is pulling at her hair,
: My niece picked at her hair so long and so obsessively that at 3 years old, she had no hair. The Doctors told my sister that it was a 'nervous tic' habit similar to nail biting. It can also be stress related in older children, snd if this may be the case, you might want to try and determine the point of stress. Is it school related? In most cases it is.
it may be a disorder, in the newest issue of JUMP magazine with Natalie Portman their is an article on a girl coping with a disorder, manic compulsive, who pulls out her eyebrows and eyelashes. u should try to find that issue and check the article out.
