black nails

For about 5 months I have had a problem with my hands and nails. They retain a blackness around the cuticle area with a slight film that can be scraped off on the nail but not on the edges. Additionally, my hands are extremely dry and there is blackness in all of the creases of my palms. The skin around the tips of my nails becomes broken and cracked. At first I thought it was something I was using that was reacting to me but I have not been able to eliminate anything. I stopped using antibacterial soap because that seems to make it worse. I have been using tea tree oil but I don't see a difference. I try keeping hand lotion on everytime I think of it to stop the dryness but I have had no positive results. I have tried bag balm,corn huskers lotion, vaseline, lac hydrin five, and many others. I also have no insurance so I can't just go to the doctors for testing unless I have some idea of what it may be. If I need to provide a picture I can upon request. Thanks.
