A good friend of mine had an itchy rash on her face for several years. Has been treated for rosacea(sp?), but it never really subsided. Recently she went to the dermatology department at our local teaching hospital and they diagnosed her with foliculitis(sp???). Its an inflamation of the hair folicles. Because your rash started on your scalp you might want to check it out. JoyCT
