: Hi- My dghtr is 15 , brunette w/ more and more gray hair. I have taken her to Dr. who said it's a birthmark! Any ideas??? Thanks It more than likely is a 'birthmark' and the hair will lose pigment. There are 2 options open for her, coloring her hair to match her natural color, or highlighting and lowlighting to blend it all together. Lowlighting will add dark color into the light patch, and highlights will lighten darker strands for a complete blend of colors. Seek the expertise of a haircoloring specialist at a reputable salon in your area. Make an appointment for a 'consultation' and ask the hairdresser for her recommendations on "color blending" your daughters hair. DO NOT let them talk you, or your daughter, into any service you are not comfortable with. If she likes the 'streak' but not the gray color, you can always opt to have a blond color applied only to the streak to soften the gray shade.
