I have had artificial nails several times over the past few years, and have recently developed what I believe to be a nail fungus under both of my thumbs. It comes and goes, but at its worst my thumbs THROB under the nail, and applying any pressure to them really hurts. After a day or so of this, the skin under my nail gets really thick and flaky, eventually coming off a little at a time. I keep my nails trimmed down, and I try not to pick at the affected skin (even though it can look awful). I am very interested in finding a name for what I have, as well as any cures for it. Thanks for your time-
