: I'M WONDERING IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAS HAD ANY LUCK WITH ANY TREATMENTS FOR THEIR KERATOSIS PILARIS? I AM 29 AND HAVE HAD IT SINCE BIRTH. FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS, I THINK MINE IS QUITE EXTREME. I HAVE IT ALL OVER MY ARMS (FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WRIST TO MY SHOULDERS) AND ALL OVER MY LEGS (FROM THE ANKLES RIGHT UP TO THE TOP OF MY THIGHS) AND ON MY BUTTOCKS. AS YOU CAN PROBABLY GUESS, IT'S BEEN QUITE DISTRESSING TO ME MY WHOLE LIFE. I KEEP READING THAT IT GOES AWAY WITH AGE AND I WAS TOLD WHEN I WAS YOUNGER THAT IT WOULD PROBABLY CLEAR UP IN MY MID-TWENTIES. AS I APPROACH 30 I SEE ABSOLUTELY NO IMPROVEMENT WHATSOEVER. ANY MEDICIAL ADVICE THAT ANYONE (DOCTORS OR PATIENTS) COULD GIVE ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I too am 29 with the SAME problem! So utterly frustrating. Anyway, I recently cried UNCLE with my dermatologist who for the first time actually recommended something that is working!!!! It's a combo therapy as it always is. Morning and night I wash affected areas with Glytone, a body wash and VERY effective. Morning I apply a high potency Vitamin A lotion and at night a high potency alpha hydroxy lotion. And, on top of that, if still necessary, you can add a microdermabrasion, which I personally saw the fasted results with and noticed an improvement in scarring. Glytone is sold by my derm as well as the DCL lotions mentioned above. Good luck!
