: I'm looking for treatment or answer as to what I have. I have had acrylic on my nails for some time now. I removed the acrylic off one of my nails and found that the nail was red and split in the middle can someone tell me anything?
: I looked up some information and I saw a picture of what my nail looks like and it said the condition was Reyes Nails but I can't find anymore information on this topic all I can find is Reyes Syndrome which is not the same. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!
Since you just had artificial nails removed, I am wondering if the redness and the split are due to excessive filing with a high-speed drill or heavy abrasive. If the nail palte is very thin in that spot, I am more prone to believe that the nail technician over-filed your nail plate and removed too many vital nail plate layers. If this is the case (and I believe it is) then all you can do is wait for the damage to grow out. Keep the nail very short while it is growing, as any trauma to the damaged plate can cause the split to deepen and cause further trauma to the nail bed.
