: I notice that my scalp and hair smell unpleasant to say the least two days after I wash it. Like if I wash it on Monday it will smell really bad on Wednesday. So I have to wash it on wednesday mornong and can't wait untill Wednesday evening to wash it. Does this happen to everyone and are you just suppose to wash your hair everyday or what? Please someone give me some feedback. Thanks in advance.

Many times, the 'smell' associated with an oily scalp is not necessarily that you don't wash your hair everyday, but because you do not change your pillow case every day. The oil from your scalp is transferred to the pillowcase when you lay your head down. Lay on it again the next night, and more is absorbed by the fabric - then it transferres right back to your hair, and the result is an 'oily odor' in your hair. There is no reason why you cannot wash your hair everyday to help control the excess oil from over-producing sebacious glands. It is your scalp that produces too much oil -- then it flows down the hair strands, giving the hair an odor and making it 'greasy' looking/feeling. Unless the ends of your hair are dry, there is no reason to use a conditioner on your hair, and most times, conditioner will compound the problem. Just wash everyday with a cleansing shampoo. FYI: I have been a hairdresser/nail technician for over 33 years now and have always advised my 'oily hiar' clients to wash daily. My husband has oily scalp/hair and shampoo's every day - I couldn;t stand to hug him if he didn't! Yes, I have LOTS of pillowcases for him :))
