How late in the day does he take ritalin? My daughter was on it and IF she could by 10 PM, we had to be sure that she took her ritalin no later than 1 PM. This still enabled her to concentrate on her school work and homework (she had to start it within an hour of getting home from school) Then by 6 or 7, she got a little restless. We made her get a bath by 8 and then she would play until 8:30 or 9. She was restless, but we allowed her to take a book to look at in bed and by 9:30 she had to put the book down. Usually she was asleep by 10. (Some nights I would rub her back and legs and arms to help relax her. The whole trick is giving the ritalin early in the morning and the second dose no later than 1.
