I have the problem of grinding my teeth in my sleep. My partner was constantly complaining about the noise. I went to the dentist, and he noticed that my teeth were getting filed during my sleep. So he gave me a mouth guard for when I am asleep. I used to get pretty bad headaches when I grinded my teeth, but they are less now that I have this brace. It is a specially formed mouth guard (don't just buy one from your local sports store). Get your boyfriend to a dentist and see what they can do for you. Good luck.
