: : Hi there...
: : Sorry to hear about your pain...not getting any sleep because of pain only makes it worse!
: : I have migraines and sleep deprivation is a big part of my problem. I was given Sonata one time to take and it would give me 3 hours of sleep and that is it...the only way I would get more is if I took more when I woke up, doubling up on the dosage before going to sleep would not help one bit. If it has not given you any sleep then I would stop trying, it's not going to. Are you on any medication for the pain that may be blocking it? Well, the ONLY medication that has continually helped me is ambien. I go through needing 10mg to 20mg sometimes, but it will give you sleep and you will not feel any side effects when you wake up. My only warning is that it does cause amnesia. I will take it and have conversations with my husband that I don't remember or do something silly...but I get such good results with it that I keep taking it. What is funny is that ALL my doctors say that it's not addicting. funny, i sure do feel addicted!
: : Anyway, maybe it could help you sleep through the pain...hopefully by now you have found something to help you. Good luck!

: Thanks for the reply. I've been told I have fibromyalgia(chronic muscle pain)& a big part of the problem is not sleeping because of the pain. The Ambien does help me sleep but if I fail to take it I don't sleep at all. Of course, I am real concerned about becoming addicted & the long term side effects. I've been on Ambien for over 2 mths & the Doctor has renewed my RX for another 2 mths. I've been off work for 3 mths & the Dr has now released me to return to work even though I truly don't feel much better. Maybe going back to work will help to keep my mind off the pain. Excerise & sleep are the best things in helping with fibromyalgia - its hard to want to excerise when you work more than 40 hours a week and are tired all the time. I have to force myself to keep moving even when I don't want to do anything. The regular sleep & excerise do help but not sure a drug induced sleep is as beneficial as a natural sleep. Thanks for listening. Aileen
hi. ive been having trouble sleeping to wake up and go to school the next morning. my doctor put me on ambien and when i do take it i feel like i'm on acid. i dont realize what i'm doing and then i wont remember the next day. i was hallucinating badly and some of the things i saw were little gremlins when i looked at bright light and a crucifix. this is bad for me considering that im a recovering drug addict and i LIKE the feeling a lot. i feel that ambien and all other medications are addicting and the reason we are put on these medications is so we become addicted and become immune to it.
AMBIEN (and all other medications) IS SHIT!!
