: I can really relate to what you are going through. I have vivid dreams and nightmare almost every night which waken me and take a while to calm down from. Mine seem to be a result of PTSD and I am going to go to a body therapist as I have tried talk therapy for years and it doesn't get rid of it. I also take a hypnotic sleep aid and wonder if that may be making it worse. I hope you will gain some comfort from the fact that you aren't alone as I have from your message. Good luck. I have always had extremely vivid dreams and nightmares from which i have had a difficult time awaking. I always thought that this stuff would dissipate with age, but i am finding that the older i get the more i have and the more severe they are. I often have to be awakend to quit screaming or whining or speaking in strange syllables. It also takes me up to 30 mins. sometimes to recover (calm down) from one of these before i can go back to sleep. any thoughts? should I check out the possibility of a sleep disorder center? HELP!
