OK, first off, you are NOT supposed to take it unless you are already in bed! You can't take it and think you'll just do a few things around the house or send a few emails until you get sleepy. I have found that it doesn't work at all unless I'm in bed and HORIZONTAL. There's something about just laying down (not sitting up in bed reading) that makes it much more effective in getting me to sleep. FAST. Also, I can't remember the exact amounts, but I read on a medical website that it takes about 500 mg's to kill a rat. So you're probably quite safe having a month's supply in your house.
