I hope you remember posting your message so you see this - I know exactly what you are going through. I have been on Ambien for 2 years now - I started with 10 mg, I've been taking 20 mg for the last 6 months. I'm sorry, the amnesia does not go away - I don't think it gets any worse unless you're taking more. My advice would be to continue to do what you're doing - go to bed and read until you fall asleep - personally, I like the cozy feeling a bit too much - I have a tendancy to do really stupid stuff after I take my ambien and I don't remember unitl something sparks my memory the next day. I think it is an awesome drug for sleep disorders - I love it that I can get a full night's sleep and wake up without a drug hangover. Just be careful and I would say that you'll be just fine. Ali
