: : Does anyone have any Info/Experience of digestive problems that come on from having given up smoking, eg constipation, bloating, low GIT motility. Possibly from nicotine withdrawal?

: No solid research info, just personal experience. I'm on day thirteen without a cigarette after more than 25 years of heavy smoking (still thinking every two minutes that I might just pop down to the 7-Eleven for a new pack). The first few days, I had the symptoms you describe, so I've been making an extra effort to drink a lot of water and eat high-fiber foods, which seems to have helped.

: There's also been a little old-fashioned indigestion -- which I don't usually get (and which a calcium-based antacid has been taking care of).

I quit smoking a month ago and went from being aperson who goes to the the toilet three times most days to someone who goes once evry three days with not alot of success. I'm getting so fed up with it I want to start smoking again, which is a shame because otherwise I'm coping very well. The usual things - fibre, water, exercise, etc. haven't helped much. I'm going to a homeopath but I don't have high hopes.
