Nancy, you are right. I know of some people who have been put on Wellbutrin for depression or bipolar disorder. It has made a tremenouds difference in their life. The problem with these prescription (Wellbutrin and Zyban are the same medication) is when it is prescribed to people who would not normally need an antidepressant. It gives them many different and severe side effects. For me, it gave me axiety and panic attacks. It also messed with my hormone level and gave me symptoms of menopause. I'm glad Wellbutrin is working for you. I just want people to be aware of the problems that can occur with it. This is a list of 165+ peole who have on going severe side effects from this medication. My suggestion would not be to take it off the market but for physicians to become aware that it is not a miracle drug for all. They need to know that it can truly help people with clinical depression but people with Type A personalities who are trying to quit smoking may not be suitable candidates for this drug. I'm sorry if you thought I was trying to ban something that truly has helped many people.
