I am one week post-op after having Level 2 ACDF at C5-C6 w/donor bone. My main symptom for the last 3 1/2 yrs was muscle spasms in my shoulders, upper and mid-back. My left arm had a lot of weakness also, but I truly beleive the weakness was a result of the muscle spasm's also. My MRI showed 1 bulging disk at C5-C6 with impingement and two more herniated disks at C6-C7 with no cord compression. I was diagnosed with DDD, moderate spinal canal stenois and osteoarthritis all at C5-C6. My EMG was negative. I am continuing to have the muscle spasms since the surgery. My neuro-surgeon said they could last for as long as 3 months. Has anyone else had these horrid muscle spasms and can I hope for any relief from the surgery? My family doctor diagnosed me with Myofacial Pain Syndrome, and doesn't think the surgery will give me much relief. The neuro-surgeon said it will help. The only medication that helped with the spasms was valium, but of course they will not give me anymore of them, because I took them for 2 weeks straight before the surgery. I was given Percoset for my after surgery pain reliever, and it is not helping at all. Thanks for any help....
