I am a 56 year old female with 54 degree double major S-curve scoliosis. I didn't know I had it until I was in my 20s and always believed that nothing could be done after adolescence. After years of massage, chiropractic, physical therapy, the constant back and hip pain I was referred to an orthopaedic surgeon. He is recommending posterior spinal fusion surgery with two rods. I would really like to hear from anyone in my age group who has had this surgery. Did it help the back pain? How long was your recuperation? How much did the surgery limit your range of motion? Thanks for any feedback.
