: : : I have had cervical fusion at C4-C5 level and later at the C5-C6 level. Both fusions due to a herniated disc problem caused from different sources. They removed bone from the pelvic region to insert into the vertibra. Was only in hospital 3 days with last surgury. hardest part was getting the area where they removed the bone to funtion so I coould walk without pain. I was 42 at that time, so you can make it being only 26. Also would suggest that you should insist on frontal surgury as anterior approach causes to many later problems. I am looking for any advice for this. I am 26 years old and have been in pain for over a year. I have weakness in my arms and numbness in my hands and pain radiating down my spine and at my neck and shoulders. I have tried injections, massage, steroids, muscle relaxers, antiinflammatories, therapy. These have only been a minimal help. Are there any other things that have helped? Does surgery work and what are the risks of surgery? Please help!

:
: I had c5-c6 & c6-c7 fused with hip bone and plate
: 9/97, I got hit from the side playing basketball
: 7/99 and ruptured the disk above the old site at
: c4-c5. I had this surgery last week. This time doner boner was used for the graf and plating was
: again installed. I was out of the hospital next day and back to work in 3 days (light duty).
: Have the surgery. I will say the hip pain from the
: first surgery was the worst part of either. I woke
: up from surgery this time with imediate relief.
I am 51 years old and have been suffering from shoulder and lower back pain for 20 years! I have been to orthopoedic dr's, chiropractors, etc. Years ago one dr did say I was showing signs of spinal stenosis; another dr said fibromyalgia. I learned to live with the pain because I got tired of going to dr's and getting medication, physical therapy, none of which helped. I am currently trying to exercise and am taking a mild sedative because the dr said my problems are caused by stress. I believe the daily pain is causing stress. I just started to have tingling in my right hand and foot. will be going back to the dr but wanted more info on spinal stenosis and its symptoms. Thanks so much for your help. I want my life back.
