: Help. My brother suffered a spinal cord injury 8 years ago and is now, a functioning quadriplegic. For the past 12 months or so he suffers from "sweats." (both during the day and night) The doctors regularly treat him with antibiotics because they feel UTI's can cause excessive sweating for quads. Has anyone heard of this? I'm desperate for info. thanks It sounds like autonomic hyperreflexia. I am a c7 quad and have had sweats from a preassure sore on my tailbone. I started getting bad hyperreflexia after they put in the indwelling cath. Head throbbing from blood pressure going up, sweating, bad spasms, hair stands on end, skin gets sensitive, and feeling hot. There are all different levels of hyperreflexia, but getting a doctor to understand can be frustrating.
