: : I am 40 and have central canal stenosis with herniations and spurs from C7-C3. I had a fusion at C6-C7 back in 1991 for a herniation, and at that time the stenosis was very mild and I had only one other mild buldge. My surgery was frontal and I felt great for about 2 years, then all the symptoms slower came back. Probably due to the other problems that evolved. My neuro explained that anytime you fuse one level, it adds stress to the levels above and below, causing them to herniate, also scar tissue, trauma to the boney surfaces, who knows. Maybe my condition would have gotten worse anyway, but I firmly believe the surgery, at the very least, hurried it up, alot!

: : I have gone the route of injections, therapy, massage, mega medication, etc. I have found I get the most relief from glucosamine, along with other vitamins and nutritionals, and believe it or not, magnets. I have a necklace that does wonders for the neck and shoulder spasms, I actually have a pas I sleep on. I wouldn't have believed it until I tried it. In 3 weeks I was off all medications and able to exercise (walk & swim) without hurting for the first time in years. I know it's not going to cure me, but maybe I can hold off from more surgery until they find some other, better way to deal with my condition.

: : Be careful if you're going to use herbals, supplements, magnets, etc. You can spend a fortune learning what works and what doesn't! It took me 2 1/2 years to streamline my program. Educate yourself. And my opinion, for what it's worth, avoid surgery until you have no choice.

: : I'd be happy to share what I'm taking and what I'm using if anyone would like the info - e-mail me. I found this site accidently, while looking for something else. I won't be checking the board much.

: : God bless, and good luck!
linda thanks for bringing me down to earth, having just heard about the surgery possibility my supplements haven't been real beneficial was wondering what magnets to try any particular brand name on yours? good luck to you, too
